New Year, New Resolutions

2016, what a year you have been. Ups, downs, and upside downs, I can truly say this has been a year of growth and realization for me.

Every December I make a list of personal goals to help expand my perspective and become a better version of myself. This year I've partnered with Express to share with you a few of mine for 2017! What are your resolutions? Comment below!

Discover a hobby. Playing piano & taking dance classes. I played piano and did ballet, jazz, hip hop, and tap growing up - I'm making myself get back into it!!

Go to the beach. At least once a week to reflect.

Travel to a new country. Austria, in August.

Try something weird. TBD...

Be present. In every moment, stop thinking ahead. Put the phone down!

Be decisive. Things won't work unless you make them work. Speak up, take action, express your feelings. Don't be passive, don't wait.

Think with an open mind. Be optimistic & more sensitive to other people's perspective.

Be selective. Of who, where and how I spend my time. Only put myself in situations I truly want to be in.

Learn a different language.  Italian.

Remind loved ones of their importance. With thoughtful gestures, or verbally.

Find... The perfect skincare routine.

Cook. One really amazing meal.

The white sweater tank that I am wearing is SO comfy and it's also a great transitional piece into spring. I'm also loving the fit on the distressed jeans (I've been wearing these almost every day since I got them!) Hellooo 2017 uniform.

Here's to a great year ahead!! xx

The versatile maxi dress you'll want to wear on repeat.

Just as fast as fall creeped up after summer, the holidays will be here before we know it.  I'm a big fan of celebrations—with tequila involved, obviously—but hate waiting until the last minute before knowing what I'm going to wear. I decided I wanted more versatile look to throw on for upcoming parties and events, instead of stressing the day of. Anyone else?

I've partnered with Express to do some special occasion shopping and fell in love with this black maxi dress. It's sophisticated, but also comfortable and somewhat of a clean slate to style. I threw on a choker to give this look a cool, modern vibe.

I'm also craving to pair it with ankle booties and a leather jacket, dressing it down for a more casual night out in LA.

I love having a piece that I'll be able to style endlessly for this season's parties.  A little early shopping goes a long way...

What to Wear to Work

OutfitLindsey Cavanaugh2 Comments

Working it Monday - Friday.

In 2016, the working girl uniform has definitely shifted from traditional routes – especially in LA. Many of my friends work for their own businesses or start-ups with a laid-back company culture and dress code. However, looking sharp for your day to day ALWAYS key as you never know what will come up.

I've partnered with Express to share one of my favorite Wear to Work looks. My style mantra for work dressing is BE COMFORTABLElook smart. You don’t have to feel like you're playing dress up wearing a bland dress and heels.

Add in some funk and opt for your own personal style twist that showcases your personality while looking polished. Some ideas:

  • Sneakers with a pencil skirt
  • A casual tee with a blazer and slacks
  • A bomber jacket over a dress
  • Pin embellishments adding a casual touch to a serious look

For my look, I paired a black blazer with a white, distressed tee, and The Editor ankle pant. I added some personality to my look with pin embellishment (see similar HERETHESE super comfortable suede ankle strap heels are a MUST in your wardrobe on and off the clock.

Moral of the message - have fun with your work style! Shop looks from Express HERE.

Thank you to Express for partnering with me on this post.

Colorblock boyfriend jeans for the win.

I know it's the dead of summer, but I'm already craving fall—mainly for the clothes. The teasers that I've been seeing from the fashion world, like crushed velvet, statement trenches, one-shoulder tops, plus the new outlook on denim, has me beyond ready for September.

My personal style is a hint of city, a hint of beach (hence Something Beachy) and denim is my favorite staple to play around with. Speaking of, I recently partnered with Express to style my favorite jean look. They have an updated approach to the California classic and are killing it. But seriously, I hopped into a store recently and was blown away by their revised style and product line. They've stepped up their game in a major way!

I'm especially loving color-blocked girlfriend jeans, like the ones I choose for these shots. They provide a coolness that takes the mom jean factor out of some girlfriend styles. And this billowy, feminine, peasant Express Edition blouse served as the perfect complement to soften this masculine denim.

I really appreciate that Express' design, cut, and fit of their jeans is ultra flattering. It can be impossible to find jeans that fit my longer legs, but I didn't have a problem when shopping there.

I couldn't help myself and also picked up a velvet crop top and black lace-up bodysuit that will be in constant rotation come fall.

I have a feeling I'll be back at Express real soon. Can't wait!
