Recap: LA College Fashion Week

LifestyleLindsey CavanaughComment

10/22/16 Event Recap. It's fashion week all over! Not really, but I can actually say I may have enjoyed this more?! College Fashion Week was a great experience empowering female college students in the LA area.

I attended the event hosted by Her Campus with Kaitlynn, Evelina, and Tiana (our Foray co-founder). As we pulled up to the venue in Culver City, the line to get in was INSANE - we're talking hundreds. It was awesome to see so many young women coming to support a good cause. Inside the venue, there were multiple activation booths, so we had a chance to mingle around and interact with brands before the fashion show started.

The fashion show showcased REAL college girls and was broken up into 4 segments, each with different themes. Foray sponsored the festival portion of the show with the brand Delacy. The outfits were really cute and girls worked it! Seriously - they had major confidence. It's great to see such positivity and fearlessness in young girls.

What Are You Doing This Weekend?

Come support a good cause.  I'm always up for a good #girlpower cause - especially when it's a fun event with my close friends!

This Saturday, join Evelina, and Kaitlynn Carter, and myself at LA's first College Fashion Week hosted by Her Campus. College Fashion Week provides a platform for fashionable collegiettes to come together in a positive, empowering setting to celebrate their bodies and fashion as a form of self expression. The bodysuit I'm wearing in this post is by Delacy, a brand that will be featured in the runway show on Saturday.

Although my college days are long gone (tear), I’m happy to support this cause that gives college women a space for empowerment and positivity. If you live in LA and are interested in also supporting this event, details to purchase tickets are below.

A big thanks to the event sponsors: Foray CollectiveDryBarRebecca MinkoffVince Camuto, DelacyFitbitBertha Watches and Perfumania. See you there!

Colorblock boyfriend jeans for the win.

I know it's the dead of summer, but I'm already craving fall—mainly for the clothes. The teasers that I've been seeing from the fashion world, like crushed velvet, statement trenches, one-shoulder tops, plus the new outlook on denim, has me beyond ready for September.

My personal style is a hint of city, a hint of beach (hence Something Beachy) and denim is my favorite staple to play around with. Speaking of, I recently partnered with Express to style my favorite jean look. They have an updated approach to the California classic and are killing it. But seriously, I hopped into a store recently and was blown away by their revised style and product line. They've stepped up their game in a major way!

I'm especially loving color-blocked girlfriend jeans, like the ones I choose for these shots. They provide a coolness that takes the mom jean factor out of some girlfriend styles. And this billowy, feminine, peasant Express Edition blouse served as the perfect complement to soften this masculine denim.

I really appreciate that Express' design, cut, and fit of their jeans is ultra flattering. It can be impossible to find jeans that fit my longer legs, but I didn't have a problem when shopping there.

I couldn't help myself and also picked up a velvet crop top and black lace-up bodysuit that will be in constant rotation come fall.

I have a feeling I'll be back at Express real soon. Can't wait!
